Today, the Albanian Institute of Transport organised  the “Intermodal Transport Network Event, Albania ”, in the framework of the MultiAPPRO PLUS – Multidisciplinary approach and solutions to development of intermodal transport in region – PLUS project, funded by the INTERREG INTERREG V-B Adriatic-Ionian ADRION Programme 2014-2020 Programme. The event was be held in Tirana (Albania).

The meeting referred to the project activity C.3, Deliverable C.3.2. The event was organised by the Institute of Transport and aimed to discuss the economic role and impact of COVID-19 situation in Intermodal Transport areas in the Albanian country regions.

Below the topics discussed during the meeting:

  • Supporting the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable intermodal transport in the region – Presented by Msc. Eneida Elezi, Albanian Railways
  • Economic factors in the field of transport and logistics and COVID 19 Impact – by Prof.as.Dr. Mateo Spaho, University of “LUARASI”
  • Development and implementation of technological solutions in intermodal transport – by Ms. Pervin Pasholli, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

After the presentation the panel discussed on the immediate soft measures that should be implemented to mitigate the COVID-19 and future crisis impacts. The participants agreed that in times of economic crisis it is necessary to invest in logistics to reduce transport costs, delivery times and to make the country more easily developed: only through a well-maintained logistics sector operators and companies will be able to choose the most efficient means of transport, in order to obtain lower prices and better time management. The results will arrive in the medium and long term for the state coffers but the competitiveness of the country on international markets will be resilient and lasting.
