Last 24th of June 2022, Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) organised the national event in the framework of MultiAPPRO PLUS project. The event was hosted in the form of an online meeting, and it was followed by a total of twenty-two people among presenters and participants.

The meeting aimed to deliver information about the actual situation of ports and the several outputs achieved within the MultiAPPRO PLUS project until now. It was organised and divided into three main focus group. In the first focus group, it was brought to the attention the existing bottlenecks collected during the development of MULTIAPPRO Project, the consequent related issues, and the strategies that has been put into action by the port to solve obstacles and impediments.

The following focus group consisted in analysing ports’ cooperation at regional and national level and identifying the potential prospects to which participation at European projects may lead to. The third and last focus group entitled “New technologies and methodologies towards the sustainable development of ports – Transformation of ports into Energy Hubs”. The presenter mentioned new technologies and methodologies supporting the sustainable development of the ports and analysed how a port can act as energy hub. The analysis was carried out also with the help and intervention of two companies’ representatives, who are specialised in investigating in technologies for the holistic energy upgrade of the port.

The meeting ended with a session of positive exchange of opinions during which both participants and speakers agreed on the important role of ports now as well as in the coming future for the transport system.
